Abstract
The Jordan valley forms the northern portion of the Dead Sea drainage basin which lies in the great rift extending from the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea to the mountains of Lebanon. The Jordan River, which flows southward within the rift, rises in the slopes of Mount Hermon and ends in the Dead Sea.
