Abstract
The foregoing study had two basic motives, i.e.:
-
1.
To ascertain the problems which confronted Dutch colonial policy from 1816–1830, the guiding principles of the period, and the attempts to solve these problems;
-
2.
To see whether a careful study of a period in Dutch colonial history which might be considered as one roughly corresponding to the period which is now facing the Dutch, might not bring to the fore some guiding principles which must be taken into account by anyone desiring to provide a progressive solution to the internal and external problems of the Indies today.
