Abstract
Radionuclides are used in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development, on production lines providing methods of surveillance, and in quality control and analysis to identify and quantify trace levels of materials. The potential for their use in the formulation of pharmaceuticals has not been fully realised. It is now recognised that radionuclides are useful, and even essential, in biopharmaceutic and pharmacokinetic studies of drugs in order to design a formulation and product with optimum delivery characteristics.
