Abstract

Australian roboticists are addressing problems ranging from the practical application of existing industrial robots to the design of the new robot and software systems to serve the future needs of both primary and secondary industries. Typical of the latter is the national research programme in wool harvesting which is supporting research at the University of Western Australia into robotic sheep shearing. The Annual International Symposium on Industrial Robots will be held for the first time in the southern hemisphere in Sydney in 1988.
