Abstract
It is probably safe to say that more has been written about the Greeks in the course of the centuries than about any other nation. If we assume, as Kant believed, that Nature follows a definite plan it would seem that She wanted to bring the achievements of the intellect to an all-time high in order to furnish later generations in various cultures with a beacon or a sign-post.
