  2. English’ some’ has a puzzling number of Dutch equivalents we might take a moment to consider. The ordinary colloquial language uses een paar or wat (especially for indivisibles: see Ch. 13:4). Enkele is somewhat stimsh, and enige is yet another step upward into the realm of literary style. Sommige (illustrated in the review reading in Chapter 11) is easily distinguished: it always implies an even larger number of instances not covered by the statement, and is therefore equivalent to the emphasized’ some’ of ‘In SOME cases…’
