Abstract
It seems to me that Prof. Plattel’s remarks are largely due to misunderstanding. First and foremost I nowhere in my pre-advice “proclaimed science to be the highest good”. On p. 90 I am perfectly content to establish that science “represents a positive value”. That there are limits to the power and value of science is not a point in doubt; but these limits are not under discussion today, but were so yesterday.
