Abstract
Whatever in this chapter (or for that matter in the entire book) the reader finds unintelligible or uninteresting he can skip or reread. For Epictetus logical theory includes a study of proof, implication, contradiction, forms of argument, conditional reasoning, meanings, definition, truth, paradoxes, falsehood, fallacies, criteria, and “measurement and judgment” (cp. I./7.7–12,7.12, I; 111.2.2–7; M52; below passim).
