Abstract
On the coast of North Borneo several settlements are to be found of the Illanun or Lanun who originally came from the Philippine Island of Mindanao. Ray reports two vocabularies which differ only little, one published by St. John (42, 1), and one noted down by Treacher on the Tempasuk River and reproduced in the article by Swettenham already referred to repeatedly (43, 1).
