Abstract
The Court Chronicle (v. commentary on canto 61) is continued for 1362 with an account of a great Tantric ceremony. Like chapter 14, the description of the annual Court festival, chapter 9 evidently was written with devotion to the subject and admiration for the splendour of the display. Perhaps the poet’s intention was to show a parallelism between the esoteric Tantric ceremony and the worldly Caitra celebration. At the end of this chapter the probability of a close relation between the two ceremonies based on the old belief in cosmic duality shall be discussed.
