Abstract
Any type of processing creates waste (by-products, pollution), and meat processing is no exception to this general rule. The main object of meat processing is to produce food for the consumer and anything else leaving the abattoir or meat-packaging plant may be termed by-products or waste. If these are not properly handled and disposed of they may create pollution problems.
