Abstract
Elements which are required by plants in only very small amounts are known as micro- or trace elements. Although they are present in plants at rates of only 10−3–10−5 times the amount of such macroelements as nitrogen and potassium, they are nevertheless equally essential for normal plant growth. Deficiency of a microelement such as molybdenum can be just as important as macroelement deficiency. The elements which are generally regarded as being essential microelements are boron, chlorine, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum and zinc.
