Rubella

Immunisation

Abstract

Rubella is a relatively unimportant disease of late childhood and adolescence. It has often been said that rubella is not as infectious as measles but with the availability of diagnostic techniques this view may have to be modified. It now appears that the diagnosis of rubella based on clinical grounds alone is frequently incorrect. Since it has not appeared to be highly infectious by person-to-person contact and predictable epidemics like those of measles have not occurred, there has always been a varying proportion of susceptible adults in any population group.
