Summary

The role of the computer in the decision-making process editing bibliographic information is described. It is shown that automatic processing, using several data files, can reduce the time needed for the editorial function, and provide many valuable checks and controls or, the flow of information between input and output. The functions of computerassisted editing are described for the various data elements in the bibliographic citation. Particular attention is given to the role of computers in edition indexes.
