Abstract
Chapters 3 and 4 show that with probable restrictions on the output of oil and despite an accelerated expansion of the coal industry, coupled with draconian measures of energy conservation, most studies indicate that substantial nuclear power output is required by the year 2000 if sufficient energy is to be available to maintain a modest growth in the industrial countries, to fuel the more rapid growth of the developing countries and to ease the burden of poverty in the under-developed countries.
