Abstract
In this chapter, much emphasis is laid upon new technologies to prevent certain toxic substances from reaching the environment. Regardless however, of what preventive technology will be developed, continuous inspection of the water quality will always be necessary. As long as the toxic substances discussed in this report are used in production processes, are transported or are used by the public as end-products, there will always exist the risk that they escape in the effluents of production centres, in domestic sewage or become liberated, in some controlled or non-controlled way, from the treatment of domestic or industrial waste.
