Abstract
This paper is planned to integrate topics related to the effects of agricultural intensification on our environment, that have been discussed earlier in this Symposium, with a general survey of the subject. I interpret ‘ecology’ as being a study of the relationships of organisms with their environment and I shall concentrate on man’s position in the ecological community.
