Abstract
The term vitamin E covers several related tocopherols which have been isolated from natural sources, but the most active of these is the α-form (Figure 22). It is an alcohol derived from phytol and trimethylhydroquinone, is soluble in organic solvents and in its non-esterified form is readily oxidized.
