Abstract
From inspection of breathing patterns recorded for 12 hours at monthly intervals on 100 infants, we determined that the longest episode of normal apnea, almost invariably following a sigh, was 14 sec. Therefore, we define abnormal apnea as an episode of 15 sec. or greater.
