Abstract
This does present a problem in practice because electrocardiography is often misunderstood, misundertaken and misinterpreted. It is essential that the family physician should either be proficient in understanding and interpreting the e.c.g. tracing he has obtained from his own apparatus, or should know the clear indications for referring a patient for an e.c.g. study at a hospital, and being able to include the information from it correctly in the clinical situation.
