Abstract

In chronic renal failure those drugs which are normally excreted into the urine will accumulate within the body. Drugs which are liable to precipitate convulsions (lignocaine or largactil) are particularly likely to do so in the uraemic patient, and yet at the same time it is so easy to overdose the patient so that he becomes drowsy and even demented (as with phenobarbitone or Valium).
