Abstract
East Africa is an ornithologist’s paradise. Well over one thousand species have been recorded here and in the remoter areas of the north and in the dense forests there may well be entirely new species waiting to be discovered. This abundance compares very favourably with the below eight hundred species which have been seen in North America and the under five hundred recorded in the British Isles.
