Nakuru is often known as the farming capital of Kenya. It lies in the heart of some of the country’s richest farming areas and is well-equipped to provide all the services which farmers need. Ninety seven miles from Nairobi by rail or by a good tarmac road, Nakuru is the third largest town in Kenya. Like Nairobi, the modern town is of very recent vintage. But quite unlike Nairobi the Nakuru area seems to have been an important population centre for tens of thousands of years and many important prehistoric sites have been located in the vicinity.
