Abstract
In this decade, we’re witnessing the swift integration of the computer into the engineering design cycle. In the area of computer-aided design and manufacturing, the intelligent graphics work-station is today’s premier tool. Within the next 5 years, work-stations will provide even more local processing power, improved imaging techniques and a wider variety of applications software. More significantly, the work-station will offer the CADCAM engineer a means of efficiently sharing data with related disciplines — closing the information loop between design, manufacturing and test phases.
