Abstract
Hugh Humphreys concentrated on the integration aspects of linking 2 and 3D design with 2½D and 3D machining. In addition he considered the vital control area of computer-aided production management. From the point of view of training personnel there appears to be little difficulty in obtaining a 2:1 output ratio from experienced draughtsmen within 6 months. This is mainly on 2D mechanical design. However many more problems are faced on the machining side, where linking in to GNC demands people of reasonable academic attainment but, most crucially, who possess practical machining knowlege.
The workshop involved two main speakers to lead the discussion, namely: Hugh R O Humphreys — Director, Delta Computer Aided Engineering Ltd Arthur W H Carter — CADMAT Consultant, Plessey Displays Ltd
