Abstract

Hydrides and halides of general formula AX n are considered in this chapter. The first part of the chapter surveys the main features of the structure and properties of the compounds, and the second part considers special properties within each Group. More complex hydrides and halides containing chains or clusters of non-metal atoms are discussed in Chapter 5.
