Abstract
There can be little doubt that of all animals using ultrasound the bats come first to mind and are also the best studied. Indeed many of the techniques described in the previous chapter were originally developed for the study of ultrasound in bats, and the availability of these techniques led in turn to the discovery of most of the phenomena to be described in later chapters of this book.
