Summary

In this chapter, I describe some innovative approaches which have been applied successfully to promoting health in primary care practice around the world, and make specific suggestions to enable general practitioners to incorporate them. The individualistic approaches from industrialized countries may be more familiar to many readers. Community based approaches are also outlined, with a summary of the management steps found effective in developing a participatory community health programme.
