Abstract

Behavior Technology and Psychiatry The psychiatric literature reveals that until recently learning theory and its clinical application, behavior therapy, have exerted minimal influence on the practice of psychiatry. This lack of impact seems especially remarkable because psychiatrists generally have agreed upon the significance of learning as a factor both in the development of nonorganic psychiatric disorders and in their treatment through psychotherapy.

The authors wish to express their appreciation to Gary R. Rick, Ph.D. for his assistance in the preparation of this chapter.
