Abstract

The opportunity to glimpse some of the molecular shapes, conformations and structures exhibited by the connective tissue polysaccharides has arisen only within the last two years. This data, obtained in the main from paracrystalline solid-state preparations using X-ray diffraction, should enable valuable inroads to be made concerning our understanding of the molecular architecture, and consequently the molecular behaviour and properties, of these biologically and medically important group of polymeric substances.
