Abstract
The Picher, largest of the fields in the Tri-State district, is arguably typical of the zinc-lead deposits that have become known as the Mississippi Valley Type. It differs from other examples by the abundance of chert in the carbonate sequence that contains the ore, and in the halo of silicification surrounding the ore zones. Although there are several Mineralized horizons, in each case the ore is clearly strata-bound.
