Abstract

This is one of the world’s major lead deposits and certainly Europe’s largest, and it is interesting in that it has the paragenesis of the well-known Mississippi Valley Type deposits and yet strong environmental similarities with the Colorado Plateau and Central African deposits that respectively contain uranium and copper. It is one of a series of deposits that occur in sediments lying on the stabilized shield rocks of Sweden, along the edge of the great Caledonian orogenic belt.
