Abstract
In 1983, the national income of Taiwan amounted to 46 billion USD and per capita income was 2,500 USD. The growth rate in GDP has been substantial in the last two decades: from 1960 to 1980, the annual growth rate (in constant 1976 prices) was as high as 9.6 per cent (CEPD, 1982, p. 23).
