Abstract
The similarity of some lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) to those of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis suggests an auto-immune origin of MS, attacking first myelin-forming cells and following presumably a viral infection contracted early in life’. This statement, adapted from R. Adams in Harrisson’s Textbook of Internal Medicine clearly summarizes the current interest of neurologists for immunology.
