Abstract
Familial hypokalemic periodic paralysis (hypo PP) is a disorder characterized by proxysmal attacks of flaccid weakness involving the extremities and trunk. Such episodes are usually associated with a decrease in the patient’s serum potassium concentration. While the majority of cases are inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion, approximately five percent are sporadic.
