Abstract
Frequently, laboratory studies are necessary to arrive at the specific cause of a neuromuscular problem. Electrodiagnostic studies and microscopic examination of muscle tissue are particularly essential for this purpose. A basic knowledge of neuromuscular anatomy and physiology is helpful for the best use of these tests.
