A Review and Appraisal of Instruments Assessing Hyperactivity in Children

  • Chapter
Intervention with Hyperactive Children

Abstract

Since the early 1960’s, hyperactivity in children has received increased attention from psychologists, physicians, and educators. Theoretical models (Ross and Ross, 1976; Fine, 1977), extensive basic research, and a variety of treatment programs now exist, which document both the attention and intentions paid to this topic. However, the basic step toward treatment or remediation, the provision of adequate assessment procedures, has not yet been fully accomplished.
