Abstract
Organ and tissue preservation is a long-standing dream which has become of practical importance since the advent of immunosuppression allowed transplantation. In addition, preservation of individual cell types, such as the islets of Langerhans, becomes important as various types of ‘replacement’ surgery are introduced.
