Abstract

The marked difference in incidence of atherosclerosis in males and females, at least in developed countries, has prompted a search for differences in risk factors between the two sexes. Most attention has been paid to plasma lipids and lipoproteins and many epidemiological studies have reported differences in total and individual lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride in males and females.
