Abstract

The eye and its adnexa offer a unique opportunity for the clinical and experimental observation of allergic reactions; the superficial tissues can be examined with the slit-lamp microscope and the optic media and the tissues of the posterior segment of the globe can be evaluated with the ophthalmoscope. The external eye may be examined by a less sophisticated technique with a simple pen torch and a × 8 magnifier.
