The Pressure of Grazing and its Impact Upon the Vegetation

  • R. J. Putman

Earlier sections in this book have described various facets of the use of the available vegetation by the different Forest herbivores, in discussing patterns of habitat use, activity, feeding behaviour and diet. Each such usage exerts a certain pressure upon the vegetation. In this section I wish to try to pull together all the various uses of the Forest made by the different animals, in order to assess total impact on the vegetation.
