Abstract

Much attention has been devoted in recent years to the role played by large herbivores in shaping and maintaining vegetational systems. It is perhaps self-evident that in any system where grazing animals, whether large or small, occur in any density they are bound to exercise a significant influence upon that system: altering vegetational structure, diversity and productivity.
