Auswirkung der Abwasserbelastung auf die Flora und Fauna im Raum Siegen

Abstract

Along the river system of Fernbach and Sieg water samples have been taken at 40 test points. Large quantities of domestic sevage and from metal works flow into the river. The water samples taken have been analysed chemically with regard to the most important elements and other criteria which characterize the water condition. Other water samples taken at the same time serve for the determination of the flora and fauna. The aim of the study was to find out the correlations between the chemical and biological evaluation of the water quality. The agreement between the chemical and the faunistic analyses and the resulting conclusion were about 75% and between chemical and floristic conclusions about 85%. The total identity between floristic and faunistic water classification was 65%.
