Abstract
In two experiments on different sites (clay-pseudogley and sandpodsol) the influence of various methods of soil cultivation on Pinus sylvestris (8 years old) was studied relating to:
-
a.
height, diameter and social status of trees,
-
b.
accumulation of phytomass, energy, nutrients and surface of pine needles,
-
c.
physical and chemical changes in the soil in comparison with the previous stand.
Results: Soil cultivation had a noticeable influence on the growth of trees and on the surface of needles, but not on the amount of phytomass or the accumulation of nutrient elements and energy in the organic matter. The output rates of nitrogen in the cultivated plots were higher than in the control area.
