Abstract
The first headquarters of the College were at 7 Mansfield Street, London W1. This was a house owned by Dr Geoffrey Evans, a general consulting physician and senior physician of St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He had always shown a particular interest in the problems of general practice. He taught me a great deal of medicine, I contributed to his book on Medical Treatment, and we became good friends.
