Abstract
Interference effects between separate particles occur when they are made indistinguishable. Here we demonstrate the simplest experiment that proves this statement by creating a source of one-photon states and mixing with an independent weak coherent source at a beamsplitter. We discuss experimental configurations which would allow a violation of Bell’s inequality to be demonstrated.
