Abstract

Electroluminescence (EL) forms a special topic in the broad field of luminescence phenomena in condensed matter. While photoluminescence is the light emitted by a substance, resulting from previous radiation absorption, EL being a light emission induced by action of an external electric field does not require previous irradiation of the luminescent substance (Figure 1).
