Abstract

An analytical review of papers by the authors devoted to design and development of composite media based on circular conducting elements is presented. The review includes:

  1. 1

The theory of artificial diamagnetics on the base of non-magnetic circular conducting elements (ring metallic particles).

  2. 2

Extension of this theory on composite media with broken circular elements, that is the transition to the theory of artificial paramagnetics.

  3. 3

Theory of media containing elements in the form of single broken rings and in the form of double broken rings, including concentric rings.

  4. 4

Relation between the effective permeability of a composite medium and susceptibility of a single inclusion.

  5. 5

Conditions for existence of a magnetic permeability resonant maximum and analysis of the frequency of the maximum dependence on the electric parameters of a single ring.

  6. 6

Theory of artificial chiraJ electromagnetic medium on the base of spherical helically conducting particles.
