Abstract
Mucosal involvement of the gut by viral, bacterial, fungal and protozoal pathogens, as well as by malignant tumors, is common in AIDS. The gastrointestinal tract can be involved in three different ways1.2:
-
1.
opportunistic tumors: Kaposi’s sarcoma, B-cell lymphoma, squamous carcinoma (tongue, anus);
-
2.
opportunistic infections;
-
3.
direct HIV effects.
