Abstract
Max Planck’s discovery of the quantum of electromagnetic radiation - the photon - and its use to explain phenomena according to the ‘old quantum theory’ led to a revolutionary stance in physics - the ‘new quantum theory’ - led primarily by Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg.
